About MistyWay

MistyWay is a walking app that transforms your daily steps into a fantasy RPG adventure. Every real-life step moves your hero through a hand-drawn world of 45 unique locations. We built it because we noticed that most pedometer apps get abandoned within weeks — step counts alone aren't motivating enough. We wanted to make walking genuinely fun.

Why We Built This

We love walking. And we love games. But we couldn't find an app that combined both in a way that felt real — not gimmicky, not aggressive, not full of ads. MistyWay was born from that gap. The idea is simple: what if every step you took moved a character through a beautiful fantasy world? What if walking to the store earned you an achievement? What if your daily commute was actually part of an epic quest?

We designed MistyWay to be gentle. No “train harder” messages. No calorie guilt. No ads. Just a quiet, immersive world that grows with you. Walk at your own pace — MistyWay adjusts weekly quest difficulty based on your personal history, not arbitrary fitness benchmarks.

The Team

Nikolai Iakubovskii — creator and developer. Built MistyWay from scratch as an indie project, handling product design, engineering, and operations.

Karina Misik & Zaruhi Shamiryan — illustrators. Every landscape in MistyWay was hand-drawn over 18 months. From quiet hills to volcanic wastelands, the parallax art is what makes the journey feel real.

Nikolai Inshakov — composer. Original music was written for each landscape you explore. The soundtrack grows as your journey progresses — tranquil melodies in elven valleys, tension in the wastelands.

Alexander Veselov — writer. The world and its story were written from scratch. 50+ story quests and 42 weekly quest templates, each with its own narrative and characters.

Editorial Standards

MistyWay comparisons and recommendations are written and reviewed by founder and developer Nikolai Iakubovskii. Because MistyWay may appear in these articles, we identify it as our app and disclose that relationship on each relevant page.

We compare apps using category-specific criteria such as platform support, step or GPS requirements, pricing and ads, privacy, and the type of motivation or rewards offered. Product facts come from official store listings, official product and privacy pages, and publicly documented features. Claims about MistyWay also use our direct product knowledge.
